Harlem in Disorder: A Spatial History of How Racial Violence Changed in 1935

District Attorney's Closed Case Files, 204216 (1935) (New York City Municipal Archives)

Boyett's case file includes the standard forms generated in the Magistrates Court - an affidavit charging a crime and an examination of the defendant that records age, birthplace, home address, occupation and plea - a grand jury indictment, and a criminal record, which shows no previous arrests.

In addition, the file included a hand-drawn map of the intersection of St Nicholas Ave and West 127th Street, marked with a candy store on the southwest corner, a line zigzaging across with east side with arrows pointing both north and south, and Boyett's address on West 127th street to the east of the intersection.
