Harlem in Disorder: A Spatial History of How Racial Violence Changed in 1935

Edna Hayes to Mrs. E.H. Carter, no date, Mayor's Committee on Conditions in Harlem: Agendas, Box 32, Folder 6 (Roll 170), Records of Mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia, 1934-1945 (New York City Municipal Archives).

The typewritten document recorded the attendance at only fifteen meetings of the MCCH. Annotations added attendance at five additional meetings. The additional meetings are most likely the last held by the MCCH, in February and March 1936, which occurred after the MCCH sent most of its staff back to the city department from which they had come at the end of 1935. Edna Hayes, who had served as Carter's secretary, was not one of those identified as being retained for longer in the minutes of the MCCH meeting on December 27.
