Newspapers

This analysis examined twenty-two newspapers, found in the scrapbooks in the Records of Mayor Fiorello La Guardia, on microfilm, and in digital editions. Seven of those publications were Black-owned newspapers, identified with a * in the list below. In addition, the study also examined national newspapers in the Proquest Historical Newspapers collection and the smaller and regional newspapers in the collection at Newspapers.com; these publications generally only published a single story or photograph reporting the disorder.
