Full Caption: "Where the trouble started... the Kress store in 125th Street, guarded by police after passing of rioters. Lino Rivera, 16, colored, was caught stealing a ten cent knife. Crowd was told by agitators that boy had been beaten and was near death. Riots started, although the boy was unharmed."
