Probation Department Case Files

The Probation Department of the Court of General Sessions conducted pre-sentencing investigations of ten Black men convicted for offenses during the disorder.

Thanks to Ken Cobb and the staff of the Municipal Archives for help accessing this material. The files were gathered as part of the Year of the Riot project, on which I collaborated with Shane White and Stephen Garton, with the support of the Australian Research Council.
